  from our most recent outing...Grammie & Grampy were out visiting and we all headed up to Venice. Fun city, not very stroller friendly though. I'd try posting more pics but our connection is too slow. Come on Telecom...connect the DSL already!! On another note....two very dear friends from the high school days just emailed. It's so great to hear from them and know they are well.  I so think that's what sums up life for me - family and treasured friendships and connections that withstand the test of time, distance, and life. :)

1:30 AM…on a rainy night

J & I yelled out the windows about every hour. Each of us had little moments with tears thinking about Marley out there all alone. The wind was truly blustery - and howling. I went to bed and decided not to turn on the fan. I was so sad. At 1:30AM I heard this faint sound. You could barely hear it over the swirling and howling winds whipping through. I shot up and kept listening...I woke J. He didn't really hear it - but I said "it's MARLEY, I know it, it's a cat" We ran to the kitchen. It grew louder but we still couldn't locate him. J ran outside. I walked into the bathroom and opened the curtain - afraid that what I might see on the other side might not be Marley and then I'd be devestated. But low and behold - once I flung that curtain - there was our little orange cat - meowing like crazy!! I scooped him up and he purred and purred. He looked a bit shaken - had leaves stuck on his tail. But for being MIA for a good 3-4 days - he looked great. We are sooooo happy!! I called my mom right then and she got all teary on the phone (as she has had several of hers vanish into the woods never to return). Marley is safe and sound - with more stories that he'll never share - but he's home!!! Back to us on a rainy night...

a sad moment…

It's over 2 months now and still no DSL connection. We did hook-up to some freebie dial-up - but the connection is soooooooo slow and uploading visuals or surfing any is a joke. This has completely become a pain.

We started what looked like a fun weekend but it seems to have taken a turn. Our cat, Marley, has simply vanished. I don't know if he slipped out when we had a door cracked (as the cats are all indoor cats) but he is nowhere to be found. We have searched the house and neighborhood and hung flyers. My heart is just breaking. Marley landed on our doorstep at only a couple of weeks old. We fed him with a bottle and he has been with us ever since. I just keep starring out the window in hopes of a glimpse of my little orange cat finding his way safely back home.

For the most part, the new place is great! Lots of room, super location - only downside is that we are entering Week 7 with no internet now!! And the phone company can't really give us a reason why it's not getting connected. Ahhhh, life in Italy! Needless to say,  it makes staying in touch feel like we're back in the dark ages. Maybe if we all concentrate REALLY hard - the connection will be made. Stay tuned....
