the excitement is building around here as the holidays ring near. a gathering to watch the tree lighting, a visit with the man in red, supper times rituals of chocolate squares as we tick off the days on the advent calendar, and a sunday spent transforming candy canes into magical yummy goodness with jolly tunes piping through the kitchen. i love to see the wonder of it all through kai's little eyes but my deepest wish is that he sees the true gift of giving -- of acknowledging and honoring others during this season and the seasons to follow.
